Hi everybody,
an interesting chart for all of you extolling the 'better' phones then that 'crappy' iPhone...
The OS support for the phones:

...I never said that other fonez were any better. they are probably on par with an early DOS security-wise, BUT with hardware which can send your data anywhere. Other than a PC, it doesn't have a separate modem you can unplug when you don't need it.
"Smartphone" could very well be the worst oxymoron since "military intelligence."
<montypython>And now to something completely different *BOOM!*</montypython>

Ifone 4G - more dropped calls
Playstation Online - more haxx
They don't come up with any new features, and they even repeat old bugs.

*EDIT*
What does your diagram say anyway, Starno1? That only Apple, MoForola(Droid only, big deal) and HTC(G1, Droid, Nexus) support their fonez beyond sale? OK, I'll buy that.
That many fonez were obsolete when they hit the shelves (Mofo Backflip, Cliq XT)? I'll buy that, too.
That some don't even support the units still on sale (Samsung, Garmin, and some HTCs)?
But what about Apple? I wouldn't count the vanilla iFone as "up to date" by any definition (except for the aluminum frame, which means it's a decent railgun slug ). Might be some bias in the judgment of "major" vs. "minor" advances IMO.

I am very sorry that Steve Jobs has passed away. I also don't think I will ever be a "smart phone" kind of person. Apple makes great products, but they are way over priced for the hardware you get, and pretty overpriced for the software. That's why I bought my macbook pro on Ebay and instead of getting charged 2 to 3 times more than I should have for the technology that was in my computer, it was only about 1.5times over priced

Great, so Google is responsible for the first iPhone Spam attempt ... and they got caught in the act. From what I heard, they claim they were trying to create their own version of the Facebook "Like" button for Google+.

(For the record, they read like "Apple blah iPhone yadda yadda iPad foo bar poot"
and "Apple blah Google poot foo-ga-dee-dee blah", less than 30 words combined. And there's no indication where they came from. I could make these with Gimp in ~3 minutes. Why don't you give us a genuine link to a source, like this one?)

Finally an external link.
For my part, I am not so much an anti-Apple guy as an anti-big-corporation-bullfecalmatter(is that a word???) guy.

As in, "Look what you can do with a fone now...
you can surf the web...
you can take photos...
you can play music...
you can..."

"Make calls?"
"uh... not quite, yet*. But we're working on that..."
"Then suht teh uck fup already."

As in, "Who cares if it's incompatible, just look at the all new devistating user interface(DUI)!"

As in, "Get Wifi/3G/LTE all the way! Who cares about privacy? Privacy iz 4 teh pussys!"
That's why I don't have any of these wireless devices / services / other vices. If it's wire-based, I can pull the plug and it's down. If it isn't, I can't. And worse, I don't even know what I'm connected to. It could be a malicious Service X pretending to be my long-term provider Service Y.

* It's not only the iFone that dropped calls. The competition (not ALL, but more than one) failed to do the basics either.

BUT: If Apple's and Samsung's R&D got only half the money & effort their "legal" department get (and don't get me started about PR), we would have some GREAT products by now.

Keep up the "interesting" work!

Hi everybody,
just reading about why Microsoft doesn't matter anymore...
Here is an excerpt from the story:
"“I see Microsoft as technology’s answer to Sears,” said Kurt Massey, a former senior marketing manager. “In the 40s, 50s, and 60s, Sears had it nailed. It was top-notch, but now it’s just a barren wasteland. And that’s Microsoft. The company just isn’t cool anymore.”

Cool is what tech consumers want. Exhibit A: today the iPhone brings in more revenue than the entirety of Microsoft.

No, really.

One Apple product, something that didn’t exist five years ago, has higher sales than everything Microsoft has to offer. More than Windows, Office, Xbox, Bing, Windows Phone, and every other product that Microsoft has created since 1975. In the quarter ended March 31, 2012, iPhone had sales of $22.7 billion; Microsoft Corporation, $17.4 billion."

If you want to read the whole story:

Keep well,starno1

That's only because the HypePhone is a "wanna-have" gadget, which used a good marketing strategy.
The other reason it was just the right item presented at the right time.
The - very often forgotten - disadvantage of the HypePhone is that most applications are develloped for it, because everyone thinks it's the only working smartphone. That idea is caused by the marketing strategy of course.

The whole irony of all of this, is that Apple needs to buy its parts at other companies; who in turn get sued by Apple when they release a product looking similar to that of Apple.
Ask Samsun if you'd like to know about it. Their tablets used the same parts as Apple tablets, and because of that looked alike. Apple started to sue Samsun, while in fact 90% of the parts used were made by their competitor. And because it was an American company sueing a Korean company in the US, Apple actually won that particular case.

As for the numbers you posted: they're not correct. It's unlikely that M$ made just $17.4 billion in 37 years. It's more likely that M$ made that amount of money in the first quarter of 2012, though.

You should get your facts straight before posting them, Mr "I-love-Apple-products-so-much-I-advertise-for-them-at-an-international-gaming-forum".

Hi Thorin,
both quotes are for the quarter, of course.
I know all (& more) what you posted & I agree...
I'm just posting this here to let you MS heads know that MS is dying...
(And don't worry, I'm not really biased, I have 4 Macs & 4 PCs...).
