Or I may be wrong... How do I know which version I have? I'm in South Africa and I bought it at my local gaming store...

It is probably the international edition (which is the UK edition).

*edit* Nevermind, the UK and International edition appear to be different: http://shop.sacred2.com/

Guinaur, welcome to the forum! The first thing I would suggest is installing the new patches and see if it works. Since some people already got the game, and you are the first that got this problem, maybe is something with the software/hardware installed on your pc.

Guinaur, did you get the Standard or Collector's? Seeing that my Collector's has got the PEGI ratings on it (I am in SA too), I'd say it's a UK/Euro version.

Guinaur

(@ rainynight65) I got the standard edition at BT Games, and I have installed it on my PC where it works fine, but the problem is on my brothers PC. Its quite a old PC (I'll put up the dxdiag shortly), it barely meets the minimum requirements.

My guess is that the age of that PC is the problem. What kind of soundcard is in there? Your OP seems to indicate that the problem is with the sound drivers - did you try updating the drivers? I didn't have the same problem but I had horrible sound stutters and 5 second freezes after installing the patch until I updated my sound drivers to the latest version.

Download the OpenAL packs-both the driver pack and SDK pack-from the Creative website and reinstall OpenAL from them. That should likely fix the problem.

in the demo directory there is a file:
%demodir%\system\plugins.cfg

in this file, there is a row like this:
Plugin=Plugin_openal

change this to the following:
#Plugin=Plugin_openal

so put a hash mark (#) before it. worked for me.

(mod) OS: WinXP SP2

This error usually has to do with the PhysicsX application and its interaction with your video card. I see that your video card and sound card drivers are both a bit older. Trying getting newer ones. Then perhaps a reinstall of the PhysicsX application.

Sometimes it looks like Sacred 2 wants a full reinstall after switching drivers so I'd try that if the above steps do not work.

Try updating your PhysX drivers here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_8.10.13_whql.html

Or disable PhysX altogether if that doesn't help.

(Note: it's only used if you have an Nvidia 8xxx or higher card. ATI does not use PhysX.)
